'Impatiens Walleriana #023' by Nico De Caro

This artwork by Floresta-based artist Nicolás De Caro encapsulates the key elements of his practice: energetic, hand-painted “stamps”, deformed shapes and influences of nature. Coming from the world of drawing and DIY mark-making, Nicolás creates much of his work in black and white, making this print the perfect statement piece.

Nicolás tells Evermade The Flowers arose from a simple investigation asking: “how much I could deform the typical drawing of a flower, and what new forms could appear.” “The first part of the investigation arises from drawings in canvas straps and the second...is drawings I do in my phone and then continue deforming in my computer: stretching, multiplying to generate new shapes that reflect on the fabric.
